There was an uproar in Shivnagar Radhe Wali street under Shahganj police station area in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, when the local people surrounded four to five youths in the middle of the road and beat them fiercely due to the rumor of child theft gang.
The anger of the crowd did not subside even after this and people took the youth to a nearby barber shop where they forcibly got their hair cut and their heads were shaved. A video of the entire incident was made and made viral on social media.
Rumors were spreading in the area for four-five days
It is being told that for the last four to five days, various kinds of rumors were spreading in the area regarding child theft gang. Amidst these rumours, when this young man was seen in the area, the crowd considered him a gang member. People caught him in the middle of the road and beat him up. A large number of people were present during the incident but no one tried to save the victims.
Investigation revealed – victims survive by begging
As soon as information about the incident was received, the police team reached the spot and started investigation. Investigation revealed that the youths who were caught thinking they were members of the child theft gang had no connection with any such activity. ACP Lohamandi Gaurav Singh told that these people live in slums near Panchkuian intersection of Agra and are originally residents of Gonda district. These people earn their living by demanding money from other people.
ACP said – strict action will be taken against those who take law into their hands
ACP Gaurav Singh made it clear that strict action will be taken against those who have taken the law into their own hands and assaulted these people. Based on the complaint of the victims, a case is being registered and action is being taken. The police have appealed to the people not to believe any rumor and to inform the police directly if any suspicious activity is seen.
