The Afghan team, which had already been defeated before the tournament, registered a win over Canada by a huge margin of 82 runs in its last match of Group D. This victory was very special for the team’s head coach Jonathan Trott, for whom this was the farewell match. The Afghanistan team had a historic journey in the 2024 T20 World Cup, in which the team was successful in reaching the semi-finals for the first time. In reply, the Canadian team could score only 118 runs after losing 8 wickets in the stipulated overs. The opening pair of Yuvraj Samra and captain Dilpreet Bajwa made a partnership of 25 runs in 2.2 overs. Dilpreet returned to the pavilion after scoring 13 runs in 7 balls. His innings included 2 sixes. After this, Yuvraj Samra contributed 17 runs to the team’s account. The team had lost 5 wickets by the score of 48. From here, Saad Bin Zafar along with Harsh Thakar scored 53 runs in 37 balls for the sixth wicket and took the team beyond 100, but could not win.
