Delhi Metro network is moving towards another big change in the coming years. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is going to develop a new metro corridor from Kalindi Kunj to Tughlakabad under the extension of the Golden Line. After the opening of this 3.9 kilometer long corridor, travel between Delhi, Noida and Faridabad will become easier and faster than before. The biggest thing is that for the first time there will be a direct interchange between the Magenta Line and the Violet Line, which will save time for thousands of passengers.
A total of four stations will be built in this new corridor. These include Sarita Vihar Depot, Madanpur Khadar, Kalindi Kunj and Tughlakabad stations. Three of these stations will be elevated, while Tughlakabad station will be made underground. Its purpose is to provide better connectivity with the existing metro network.

Two interchange stations will become the biggest strength
The biggest feature of this project will be its two interchange stations. At Kalindi Kunj station, passengers will be able to go directly from the Golden Line to the Magenta Line. There will be an interchange of Golden Line and Violet Line at Tughlakabad station. This will reduce the need for passengers to change lines frequently and the journey will become more convenient than before.
According to DMRC, this corridor will strengthen the reach of Metro to Yamuna Riverfront area. Apart from this, people commuting between Noida and Faridabad via Delhi will also get direct benefits. Every day thousands of people travel between these cities, who will get better and faster connectivity.
The benefit of this expansion will not be limited only to common passengers. The densely populated areas and rapidly developing industrial areas of South-East Delhi will also get better public transport. With this, access to Saket, Chhatarpur and surrounding residential areas will be easy. At the same time, people going from South and West Delhi to Noida and Faridabad will also get the option to complete the journey in less time.
It will also be easy to reach the airport
After the completion of the Aerocity-Tughlaqabad corridor of the Golden Line, its network will also reach the domestic and international terminals of Indira Gandhi International Airport. This will make metro a more convenient and reliable option for passengers going to the airport.
Delhi Metro officials believe that after the launch of this project, the vehicular pressure on the Noida-Faridabad link and major roads leading to the airport will reduce. More people will use metro instead of private vehicles, which will reduce traffic jams and can also have a positive impact on pollution.
Target to be completed by the end of 2028
This project is part of Phase-5A expansion of Delhi Metro. DMRC has set a target to complete it by the end of the year 2028. In the same phase, new corridor from Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj and RK Ashram Marg to Indraprastha has also been approved.
The expansion of Delhi Metro is not limited to this project only. At present, 8.4 km long corridor of Golden Line from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block is under construction. Apart from this, the extension of Golden Line from Aerocity to IGI Airport Terminal-1 has also been approved. At the same time, work on many other expansion projects of Magenta Line and Red Line is also going on at a fast pace.
After the completion of Phase-5 of Delhi Metro, the metro network of the capital will be stronger than before. With this, along with Delhi NoidaLakhs of people living in Faridabad and surrounding areas will get the benefit of fast, safe and convenient travel.
