According to the statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, during this visit, Prime Minister Modi will hold talks with President Harmini to review all aspects of bilateral cooperation and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to address the National Assembly of Seychelles and interact with members of the Indian expatriate community. PM Modi will be the first Indian Prime Minister to address the National Assembly of Seychelles.
Seychelles has an important place in India’s ocean vision
The Ministry of External Affairs statement said, ‘India and Seychelles have a long-term partnership based on historical, cultural and people-to-people ties. Being an important maritime neighbor in the Indian Ocean region, Seychelles holds a special place in India’s Vision Ocean (Reciprocal and Inclusive Advancement for Security and Development in the Regions) and our commitment to the Global South.’
It further said that Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Seychelles will reaffirm the strong and enduring friendship between the two countries and strengthen the shared commitment of both countries to enhance bilateral relations in all sectors. Earlier in April, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met his Seychelles counterpart Barry Faure on the sidelines of the 9th Indian Ocean Summit in Mauritius and expressed New Delhi’s commitment to assist Victoria in addressing its current economic challenges.

Describing India-Seychelles relations as ‘dynamic and excellent’, India’s High Commissioner to Seychelles Rohit Ratish on Friday said both the countries are keen to expand cooperation in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), cyberspace, cyber security, marine science and conservation and blue economy. Speaking to IANS ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit, Ratheesh said that several agreements are expected to be signed between India and Seychelles and significant achievements are expected to be announced in various sectors.
He also mentioned the visit of Seychelles President Patrick Herminy to India in February and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar to Seychelles in October last year, which reflected the momentum in high-level bilateral relations.
