The death of three laborers in Mundka has once again revived a question whose answer could not be found for years. When there is a ban on manual cleaning of sewers and septic tanks and claims are made of cleaning them with machines, then why are workers still dying of suffocation due to poisonous gas.

Three laborers died after inhaling poisonous gas while cleaning the septic tank of a factory in Mundka industrial area on Friday afternoon. Fire brigade personnel, who reached the spot after receiving information about the incident, pulled out Arun (38), Sandeep (32) and Chand (42) from the septic tank and sent them to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead. Police have registered a case against factory owner Suraj Marwah, factory worker Jayant and contractor Neeraj and arrested all three.
