- He termed the current situation as ‘undeclared emergency’.
For the first time, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has included a section on the Emergency of 1975-77 in the Class 9 Social Science textbook. In this book, the Emergency has been described as one of the “big challenges” faced by Indian democracy. Along with this, it also mentions the suspension of fundamental rights, press censorship and the Jayaprakash Narayan movement.
Maharashtra Congress MLA Vijay Wadettiwar has now reacted to the addition of a section on the Emergency of 1975-77 in the Class 9 Social Science book of NCERT and said that by doing so an attempt is being made to teach wrong things to children. This is an attempt to take the new generation in the wrong direction.

Wadettiwar said- an attempt to distort history
Speaking to the media, the Congress MLA said, “Distorting history, spreading false narratives and spreading rumours. Efforts are being made to teach wrong things to children. The situation that existed at that time was when the emergency was officially announced, and not as per any secret agenda.”
‘An attempt to take the new generation in the wrong direction’
Vijay Wadettiwar further said, “According to us, what is happening today is an undeclared emergency. People cannot speak openly or talk against the government. This is the situation today. This is an attempt of the BJP government to take the new generation in the wrong direction.”
Vijay Wadettiwar said that today’s children are very smart. They have AI and many other sources of information. He will investigate the facts himself and will not accept whatever is offered to him without thinking.
