Strong plan made to deal with fire in Delhi, Fire Department’s QRV will extinguish the fire; this is how it will work

Amidst the increasing incidents of arson in the capital, Delhi Fire Service has made major preparations to speed up relief and rescue arrangements. The department will soon deploy 26 new Quick Response Vehicles (QRVs), which will enable help to reach in the first minutes even in areas where big fire engines cannot reach easily.

Hundreds of calls every day, cramped settlements becoming a challenge

With increasing heat, incidents of fire have increased in Delhi. The fire department is receiving more than 200 emergency calls every day. The biggest problem arises in those areas where the streets are very narrow or the fire stations are located far away.

In such cases, there is a delay in the arrival of big fire engines. These vehicles will be of great help in controlling fire incidents in those areas where the fire station is far away, fire incidents are relatively high or there is difficulty in reaching big fire vehicles.

Number of QRVs will double with new vehicles

At present Delhi Fire Service has 24 quick response vehicles. After the inclusion of 26 new trains, this number will increase to 50. The department will deploy them in those sensitive areas where incidents of fire are more or there are problems related to access.

Police deployment with PCR will reduce response time

According to officials, QRV will be kept with the PCR unit of Delhi Police at many places. Often, when a fire occurs, people first call the police control room, due to which it takes some time for the information to reach the fire department. In the new system, both police and fire teams will be able to reach the spot simultaneously.

Capable of gaining rapid control in the early stages of a fire

Each QRV will have a provision of approximately 100 liters of water and 25 liters of foam. Apart from this, a motor pump will also be installed in the vehicle, which will create pressure and spray water and will also be able to draw water from nearby water sources.

Three trained fire personnel will be deployed in each vehicle. First aid material and necessary fire tools will also be present in these. The department believes that the first few minutes after a fire are the most decisive and action taken during this time can prevent major damage.
