The Reality Of The Serious Response To Fire Incidents: The Fire Of Action Quickly Cools Down.

Eight years ago, seven people died in a fire in hotels SSJ and Virat in Charbagh. Four years ago, a fire broke out in Hotel Levana Suites on Madan Mohan Malviya Marg, claiming four lives. At that time, long lists of accused were made in these cases, but nothing happened. After the accident the fire of action also cooled down.

Those responsible for the fire were acquitted. There was a slight cut in the pension of some. Some were demoted. Overall, there was a sham in the name of investigation. Even after 11 deaths, the action was handled cheaply. It would not be a big deal if the investigation of Aliganj fire incident meets a similar fate in the future.

On June 19, 2018, a fire broke out in Hotel HSJ in Charbagh, which also affected the neighboring Hotel Virat. The fire incident had created panic even for the government. During investigation, both the hotels were found to be illegal as per the standards. LDA made 22 people including two PCS officers and engineers accused and sent a report to the government for action. After this the government conducted an investigation, which continued for several years.

In the report that came out after a long investigation, PCS officer Rakesh Kumar Mishra was acquitted without any punishment. He was joint secretary in LDA at that time. Similarly, PCS officer Birendra Kumar Pandey has also been acquitted. He was also holding the post of Joint Secretary in LDA at that time.

Four out of eight accused in Levana fire case acquitted

LDA had named eight accused in the Hotel Levana Suites fire incident. The report was sent to the government for action on these. After investigation, the government acquitted four accused. Of the four on whom action was taken, two were demoted and one had his pension cut. The fourth accused was suspended, who was later reinstated and posted. LDA VC Prathamesh Kumar says that the report of the accused in both the fires was sent to the government by LDA at that time. Action has been taken by the government itself. Those who were guilty have been punished. LDA implemented this.
