On the day of recruitment examination of Prohibition Department in Bihar, candidates created a ruckus at Patliputra railway station in Patna. There was an atmosphere of chaos during the uproar. It is said that thousands of candidates, angry over the continuous delay of the train, started protesting in the station premises. Within no time the situation became tense. The candidates started pelting stones during the uproar. During this time they also vandalized. As soon as information about the commotion was received, the local police also reached the spot. When the police tried to calm the matter, the angry candidates started attacking the police, due to which many policemen were injured.

Worried atmosphere of not reaching the center on time

Regarding the incident, local people said that this recruitment examination of the Prohibition Department has been conducted in two shifts. A huge crowd of thousands of candidates had gathered at Pataliputra station since morning to appear in the first shift examination. Due to the train being late by hours, the fear and anger among the candidates about missing the examination increased, which later took a violent form.

Vandalism in train and station, candidates clashed with police

When the situation went out of control, there was a direct clash between the candidates and the police and RPF. The angry mob vandalized the station premises as well as the examination special train. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the police and railway protection force had to take charge. Regarding the incident, IG Jitendra Rana said that there was an uproar in the station premises for about two to three hours. The candidates of the first shift were worried about reaching the center on time, due to which they became angry. Some security forces personnel have been injured in this incident of stone pelting.

Tear gas shells were released, situation became better after aerial firing

Police officials said that the police had to use tear gas shells to control and disperse the angry crowd. To control the situation, aerial firing was done as a warning. After this the candidates retreated and the situation gradually returned to normal. After this violent clash, a large number of additional security forces have been deployed in Patliputra railway station and surrounding sensitive areas. Police and railway administration are currently busy in restoring law and order. The administration has started investigating the entire matter and the miscreants are being identified with the help of CCTV cameras installed at the station.

DM said, situation is normal

Regarding the incident, Patna District Magistrate Dr. Thyagarajan said that around midnight we had received information that some people were creating ruckus at the station. We repeatedly appealed to them to explain and cooperate, so that the candidates going to take the examination do not face any problem. But some anti-social elements were continuously pulling the emergency chain and making various demands like running special trains even though there were already two special trains available. He told that some people were also trying to stop the students going for the examination. Police had to use mild force to control the situation and maintain law and order. DM said that now the situation is completely normal. The trains scheduled for the candidates appearing in the examination have departed and rail operations are also continuing normally.
