The businessman, his wife, son and daughter were murdered by decapitating them in their house located at Sabzi Mandi intersection in South Malaka, in the heart of Prayagraj city. On Tuesday, when the lock of the house was broken due to foul smell, the bodies of businessman Virendra Kumar Vaish (70), wife Anita (65), daughter Meenakshi (45) and son Abhishek (40) were found lying soaked in blood in different rooms.
All four had deep injury marks on their heads. Initial investigation has suggested that the crime may have been committed out of greed for property worth crores of rupees. Virendra Kumar Vaishya lived with his wife, daughter and elder son in his house located at South Malaka intersection. He had evicted his younger son Ashwini from the property about 15 years ago.

There are 14 shops in the ground floor of this house of about 200 square yards. There are 12 tenants among them. The rent from the said shops is more than Rs 1 lakh every month. Abhishek owns a shop. The second daughter is Meenakshi. Meenakshi had recently started work under the name of Gift Gallery. Virendra also used to sit with his daughter at this shop. Virendra’s wife Anita lived in a room on the first floor due to illness.

At around 3 pm on Tuesday afternoon, neighbors informed the police that a strong foul smell was coming from the house. When Kotwali police arrived, the house was locked. When the police broke the lock and reached the upstairs room, the bodies of Virendra and his wife were lying on the bed.

Daughter’s body found lying on the floor
During the search, the daughter’s body was found lying on the floor in the adjacent room. There were deep injury marks on his head. Police have expressed suspicion of attack with a heavy object. As soon as the bodies of the three were found, there was a sensation in the area.

Police Commissioner Jogendra Kumar, Additional Police Commissioner Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma, DCP Manish Kumar Shandilya, Neeraj Pandey and other top officials reached the spot. The forensic team collected evidence from the spot.
