Disabled pension scheme of Yogi government becomes a support, more than 12 lakh beneficiaries are getting benefits

In this sequence, the Disabled Maintenance Grant Scheme, run to ensure a dignified life and social security of the disabled people, has emerged as a support for lakhs of needy disabled people.

Under this scheme, the state government has provided financial assistance to more than 12 lakh eligible disabled people in the year 2025-26. Under the scheme, an assistance amount of Rs 1000 per month is being sent directly to the bank account of each eligible beneficiary.

The Disabled Maintenance Grant Scheme was initially operated under the Social Welfare Department, but later after the formation of the Disabled Empowerment Department, it is being operated by the department. Under the scheme, benefits are provided to eligible persons with 40 percent or more disability.

Eligible disabled people above 18 years of age can avail benefits

The benefit of the scheme is given to those disabled people who do not have any permanent means of livelihood and who are unable to do regular work due to their physical condition. Boys and girls aged 18 years or above are eligible for the scheme. Apart from this, the annual income of the beneficiary should be within the prescribed limit. At present the income limit for rural areas is fixed at Rs 46,080 and for urban areas at Rs 56,460 per year.

Increased convenience through online application process

Yogi government has made the application process completely simple and online. Now eligible disabled people can apply from home through sspy-up.gov.in portal. Due to this, the disabled people of rural and remote areas are also getting the benefit of the scheme. In the year 2025-26, financial assistance has been provided to 12,23,295 beneficiaries under the scheme. This shows that the government is committed to effectively implementing the schemes.

Transparency increased through digital payments

To ensure transparency in the operation of the scheme, the assistance amount is being paid directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through the e-payment system of the treasury through PFMS. Due to this, the role of corruption and middlemen has ended and the beneficiaries are receiving the assistance on time.

Deputy Director of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Dr. Amit Kumar Rai said that under the leadership of the Chief Minister, the state government is continuously working for the welfare and empowerment of persons with disabilities. He said that the Disabled Maintenance Grant Scheme is proving to be an important support for the economically weak and destitute disabled people.

He said that under the scheme, an assistance amount of Rs 1000 per month is being provided to all the eligible beneficiaries and the entire process has been made transparent and digital, so that more and more eligible disabled people can join the scheme.
