The results of the assembly elections have started affecting both the direction and condition of the India Alliance. Mutual differences are coming to the surface, and new relationships are being formed and also deteriorating. The growing influence of BJP is affecting the base of old regional parties. In such a situation, Congress is trying to bring the ruling TVK into the India alliance.
India alliance will be affected
DMK is extremely angry with Congress suddenly going with TVK. On the other hand, Congress is making a strategy to form an alliance with TV not only in the upcoming civic elections but also in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. DMK chief MK Stalin on Saturday praised the small non-Congress parties supporting TVK. He said that Congress broke its ties with DMK in a single day. Meanwhile, the Left parties want to retain DMK in the India alliance. But it is no surprise that DMK is seen moving closer to BJP in the future. DMK has been in NDA earlier also.
Test of opposition unity in UP
After being out of power in Bengal, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has once again started talking about the unity of opposition parties against BJP. The strained relations between Congress and Trinamool now seem to be improving. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav is suspicious about Congress. He has indicated this. He is also taunting Congress for leaving DMK. SP is part of the India alliance.
Is Vijay government on the path of DMK?
Vijay, who became CM with the support of Congress, has to decide what kind of role he wants to play in the front formed against BJP. Like DMK, TVK will adopt the path of confrontation by showing a tough stance against the Center or will continue to work silently. There may also be pressure on TVK, which has declared ideological enmity with BJP, to join the India alliance and play an important role. His government anyway rests on a weak majority and the threat of withdrawal of support from any ally will hang over it.
