Nida Khan, the main accused in the alleged religious conversion and sexual harassment case in TCS’s Nashik unit, is finally in the custody of the police. Nida, who was absconding for the last several days, was arrested by the police from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Central Maharashtra. Police claim that a local AIMIM councilor Matin Patel had given him shelter in his house.
Court sent him to police custody till May 11
After her arrest, Nida Khan was produced in Nashik Road Sessions Court on Friday. After hearing the arguments of the police, the court has sent him to police custody till May 11. Earlier, Nida had sought anticipatory bail citing her three-month pregnancy. However, on May 2, the court had rejected his plea saying that there appeared to be a plan for systematic brainwashing of the victims.
Burqa, Namaz and conspiracy to send to Malaysia
Government lawyer AS Misar made shocking claims in the court. He told that one victim was forcibly made to wear a burqa and was given training in offering namaz. Nida Khan is accused of going to the victim’s house and conducting religious activities there. Investigation has revealed that there were preparations to change the name of the victim to Hania and send her to Malaysia. Police are now investigating the Instagram reels and YouTube links that were repeatedly sent to the victim.
CM Fadnavis’s strict stance
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has taken a strict stance on this matter. He said that the role of MIM councilor is clear and the government will get to the bottom of this conversion racket. At the same time, the Special Investigation Team SIT of Nashik Police has so far arrested a total of eight people in this case. A case has also been registered against Nida under SC-ST Act. Meanwhile, the war of words between the opposition and the ruling party has intensified.
Sanjay Shirsat’s big allegation
Maharashtra Minister Sanjay Shirsat has alleged a deep conspiracy in this case and said that Nida Khan was kept hidden for 43 days in his constituency Sambhajinagar. He claimed that an AIMIM corporator helped in this work and former MP Imtiaz Jaleel was mainly involved in it. According to Shirsat, the arrested accused is just a pawn and big faces are behind it, who may be part of the racket of serious crimes like forced religious conversion.
Amrita Fadnavis targeted
Chief Minister’s wife Amrita Fadnavis strongly condemned the accused, calling him a ‘monster in human form’ and said such criminals should never be allowed to get away easily. He advised the society and families to remain alert as it is often the people they know and trust who commit such despicable acts. Fadnavis stressed on increasing awareness about ‘good touch and bad touch’ in schools.
