Welcome Lake situated on Yamuna, which was once the identity of the area, has today become a picture of poor condition. Despite spending crores of rupees, there is no water in the lake and the entire area has dried up and turned into a plain. The lake area spread over about 32 acres has completely dried up. There is a small pit left in the middle of the lake, in which dirty and smelly water is accumulated. In the remaining part, local people were seen playing cricket.
According to the information, the proposal for revival of the lake is pending for about 20 years. The work could not start due to lack of funds. Later, despite the budget being approved, the project was not completed on time. The work was targeted to be completed by December 2020 but was delayed due to the Corona epidemic. Even after this the project is incomplete till date. At one time the lake was spread over an area of about 39 acres but due to encroachment and negligence its area has reduced to 32 acres. In this too, there is a plan to develop the lake only in an area of 14 acres.
Treatment plant worth Rs 7 crore useless
In the year 2014, a budget of Rs 22 crore was fixed for the revival of the lake. Under the scheme, a sewage treatment plant (STP) was installed at a cost of about Rs 7 crore to clean the drain water and put it in the lake. However, this plant has been closed for the last several years. Due to this, the system of supplying water to the lake has come to a standstill.

Every year we hear that this time the work will be completed. But the situation remains the same. Now it seems like we are just talking.

There is no water here, it stinks. On top of that, people say that there will be a laser show and a café will be built here. First bring water to the lake.
