The politics of the state has heated up over the incident of half-encounter of the booth president of Bharatiya Janata Party in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh and his being put in jail. BJP Legislative Council member Devendra Pratap Singh has raised questions on the attitude of the police on this incident. He CM in this matter Yogi Adityanath Have written a letter demanding strict action.
BJP MLC Devendra Pratap Singh alleged that first the BJP booth president was picked up from his house and then taken around for some time and then blindfolded and shot in the leg and a fake FIR was registered. He said that nothing could be more serious than the fact that the booth president had an encounter in our own government.
Demand by writing a letter to CM Yogi
BJP MLC said that strict action should be taken against all those involved in this fake encounter. Devendra Pratap Singh has written a letter to CM Yogi in this regard. He said- ‘The booth president of Bharatiya Janata Party has been wrongly half-encountered and he has been implicated in a fake case.’

He said that on March 28, the booth president of Bharatiya Janata Party Dharmendra alias Abhishek was forcefully picked up from his house by Azamgarh police at 12:40 pm and on March 29, 2026, Jeyanpur Kotwal registered a fake case, half-encountered him and sent him to jail. He claimed that this entire incident was recorded in the CCTV camera installed nearby, the CCTV footage of which was also revealed.
Serious allegations on the role of police in the letter
The BJP MLC alleged that the police also destroyed that CCTV record. There is a lot of anger and irritation in Azamgarh due to the half encounter of the booth president. Devendra Singh demanded from CM Yogi that strict action should be taken against all the police personnel involved in this fake encounter and who filed the case.
He said that Superintendent of Police Azamgarh also did not take any action against the guilty policemen, hence he himself is responsible for this incident. Strict action should be taken against them also. Meanwhile, a video of MLC Devendra Pratap Singh’s call is also going viral on social media, in which he is seen giving information about this entire incident to UP’s ACS Home Sanjay Prasad.
