Vrindavan accident: Compensation of ₹2 lakh for kin of deceased and 50,000 thousand for injured from PM Relief Fund.

It has been announced from the Prime Minister’s Disaster Fund that an assistance amount of Rs 2 lakh each will be given to the families of the deceased and Rs 50 thousand each to the injured in the motorboat accident in Vrindavan. The search operation is going on for the people missing in the accident. Five people are reported missing.

Late night, Agra Divisional Commissioner Nagendra Pratap said that the rescue operation is going on. 10 people have died in this incident and postmortem is being done before sending the dead bodies to their homes. The injured are being treated in Vrindavan. It is being told that 5 people are missing.

Minister Lakshmi Narayan Chaudhary said that this is an unfortunate incident. Pilgrims from Haryana and Punjab drowned after their boat capsized due to a sudden storm in Yamuna river. 21 people have been rescued safely and are being given free treatment. 10 bodies have been recovered, which include 5 men and 5 women. The entire district administration including NDRF and SDRF is working on the ground.

Big accident happened during the day

A major accident occurred in Vrindavan on Friday. A motorboat loaded with 30-32 devotees from Ludhiana, Hisar, Muktsar, Jagraon collided with the pontoon bridge between Kesighat and Banshiwat and overturned. 10 devotees, including six women, died in the accident, while divers rescued 15, who have been admitted to hospitals. Divers from the Army and PAC were involved in the rescue operation. NDRF and SDRF have been called. Till late night, five to six devotees could not be traced. They are being searched in Yamuna.
