
The judicial custody of five accused arrested in the blast case near Red Fort has been extended by 10 days. The case was heard before Additional Sessions Judge Manjit Rai in the special court (Srinagar) designated under the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Act. The accused include Jamir Ahmed Ahangar (Ganderbal), Maulvi Irfan Ahmed Wage (Shopian), Dr. Muzammil Shakeel Ghani (Pulwama), Dr. Adeel Ahmed Rather (Qazigund) and Shaheen Saeed (Lucknow/Faridabad).
All the accused were presented in the court through video conferencing from Tihar Jail. He is already in judicial custody on the orders of Delhi’s NIA court. The court remarked that the allegations are serious and pose a threat to the security, sovereignty and integrity of the country. In such a situation, it is necessary to continue the custody of the accused. The court ordered to send all the accused to judicial custody from April 9 to April 20. Besides, the jail authorities were instructed to conduct regular medical examination of the accused. The next hearing of the case will be held after the stipulated period.
