Sarabjit, who broke into the VVIP gate of Delhi Assembly, is undergoing treatment in the government hospital of Shahjahanpur for the last nine years. According to family members, he is a patient of depression and was not taking medicine for the last one week, due to which he often becomes violent. On Tuesday, the family handed over the documents related to his treatment to Delhi Police and asked for cooperation in the investigation. Brother Avtar Singh told that every year his condition worsens in February, March and April.

According to family members, when Sarabjit, a resident of Lakhimpur Kheri, got information about the disappearance of his nephew Harmandeep Singh, he became stressed. Harmandeep, who is studying B.Tech second year living in Harinagar, Delhi, had suddenly gone missing on April 1. On April 2, he called his mother and told her that he was not in Delhi, after which his phone got switched off.

The family lodged a missing complaint at Harinagar police station and his last location was found in Anandpur Sahib, Punjab. On April 3, Sarabjit went out in search of his nephew and on April 5, after reaching Anandpur Sahib, he had a fight with nephew Harmandeep’s father. When the family members mentioned Sarabjit’s quarrel with his wife, they advised him to take medicine for depression but he did not take the medicine. That same night, Sarabjit left for Delhi in his car and on the afternoon of April 6, he entered the assembly premises with his car.

SI and an ASI posted on security were suspended

Top police officials are investigating how accused Sarabjit entered the premises by breaking the VVIP gate in Delhi Assembly. The investigation is also going on as to where the security lapse took place and who is responsible for it. Delhi Police officials said that the SI and an ASI deployed for the security of the Assembly have been suspended.

The role of the remaining police personnel is being investigated. After investigation, action will be taken against whoever is found guilty on the basis of facts. Apart from Delhi Police, the role of CRPF personnel deployed at Gate No. 2 is also being investigated in the case.

During police interrogation, accused Sarabjit claimed that he had entered the assembly in an intoxicated state. When he started running away after the incident, the police personnel and CRPF personnel asked him to stop, but he ignored them and ran away from there by driving the car in a dangerous manner.
