Will expose those spreading lies- Rijiju

Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that minorities are being given more importance than ever before in the Modi government. The FCRA amendment will affect only illegal accounts. Accusing Congress, Rijiju said, Congress especially used the Muslim community as a vote bank. Before the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, minorities were ignored, but now all minority communities are getting full importance. I appeal to the Muslim community not to become the vote bank of any one party, because it is not in their interest.

Government addressed the concerns of missionaries

The government has interacted with Christian missionaries in the state, listened to their concerns and tried to find solutions through dialogue. Rijiju clarified that the proposed changes in FCRA are not against any community but are only aimed at curbing illegal foreign funding. The institutions which are following the rules do not need to worry about anything. Rijiju said, the government is ready to expose the lies being spread by Congress and Left parties in Kerala regarding the FCRA Amendment Bill.

PM’s visit to Christian programs is just a show – Stalin

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday termed the Foreign Contribution Amendment Bill as being against minority communities and a threat to religious freedom. Addressing a rally in Nagercoil, Stalin alleged that thousands of Christian schools and colleges could be affected by the amendment and plans were being made to confiscate their properties. DMK chief Stalin termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s participation in Christian programs as just a show off. This bill is an attack on religious freedom. Under this bill, if the FCRA registration of an organization expires, is not renewed or is rejected by the government, its certificate will be cancelled.

Opposition alert, will not allow amendment to be passed – Tharoor

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor expressed doubt over the news of withdrawal of the FCRA Amendment Bill and said that this move of the Central Government cannot be completely trusted. While talking to journalists in Nilambur, Kerala, Tharoor said that the speed with which the government was trying to bring changes in this law was beyond comprehension.

What is FCRA Amendment Bill 2026?

The proposed amendment to the FCRA i.e. Foreign Contribution Regulation Act aims to bring the use of foreign funds under more strict surveillance. The government says that this will increase transparency and prevent misuse of foreign money. Such provisions have been added in this bill which will make investigation of suspicious organizations easier and action can be taken against those working against national security.
