
There was a stir in the politics of Maharashtra when major allegations came to light regarding call detail records related to a self-styled godman. Social activist Anjali Damania claimed that there were 17 phone conversations between rape accused Ashok Kharat and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. This claim has sparked a new debate in political circles.
According to Anjali Damania, she has received the call detail record through WhatsApp. It mentions conversations between several leaders and Godman. He claimed that the longest conversation between Shinde and Kharat was 21 minutes. However, he did not specify the time period in which these calls took place. In this case, questions are now being raised as to why there were so many contacts.
Were there 17 calls between Shinde and Kharat?
Damania alleged that according to the CDR, a total of 17 calls were made between Shinde and Ashok Kharat. This claim is considered politically sensitive as Kharat faces serious criminal charges. However, the government has denied that there is anything illegal regarding these calls.

Were the names of other leaders also revealed?
Damania also said that not only Shinde, but many leaders of BJP and NCP had also talked to Kharat. He claimed that eight calls each were made with BJP leader Chandrakant Patil and NCP leader Sunil Tatkare. Apart from this, contact with BJP minister Ashish Shelar was also mentioned.
Is Rupali Chakankar’s name the most discussed?
According to Damania, there were 177 calls between NCP leader Rupali Chakankar and Kharat. This was said to be a matter of most discussion. After this revelation Chakankar resigned from the post of Chairman of Maharashtra State Women Commission. However, he said he was not aware of Kharat’s alleged crimes.
Did the government reject the allegations?
These allegations have been rejected by the government. Minister Uday Samant and BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that calling or meeting someone is not a crime. He made it clear that a crime will be considered only when someone’s direct involvement is proven. Shiv Sena also said that strict action should be taken against people like Kharat.

Anjali Damania also told that she has sent the copy of the CDR to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Director General of Police and SIT.
