Rahul Gandhi Challenges Summons Issued In Defamation Case In High Court – Jabalpur News

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi has filed a petition in the High Court challenging the summons issued by the MP MLA Court of Bhopal in the defamation case. In the revision petition filed on behalf of Rahul Gandhi, relief of quashing of the case is sought. High Court Justice Pramod Kumar Aggarwal has scheduled the hearing after a week on the request of the petitioner’s advocate.

It is noteworthy that during a speech at the 2018 election rally in Jhabua, Rahul Gandhi had allegedly taken the name of Shivraj Singh Chauhan and his son Kartikeya while referring to the Panama Papers leak. While making the comparison, Rahul Gandhi had said that action was taken against Nawaz Sharif in Pakistan, but it did not happen in Madhya Pradesh. Regarding this statement, Kartikeya Singh Chauhan filed a defamation case in the MP-MLA court of Bhopal, calling it damaging to his image. Special Magistrate of MP-MLA Court, Bhopal had issued summons against Rahul Gandhi.

when will the hearing take place

The above petition has been filed demanding quashing of the summons and case issued by the MP MLA Court. During the preliminary hearing of the petition, the petitioner’s advocate requested that the case be heard within a week. Accepting the request, the single bench has scheduled the next hearing in the coming week. Senior advocate Ajay Gupta and advocate Rajeev Mishra appeared for the petition.
