While people were getting ready for the scorching heat in the beginning of April, the weather has suddenly taken a turn. The weather patterns in North-West India have completely changed. There has been light rain in many areas of Delhi-NCR, while there has been hailstorm in many areas of Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department has said that similar conditions will prevail for the next few days.

Apart from Delhi-NCR, the weather changed in many states also. Light to moderate rain occurred at many places along Haryana-Chandigarh, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. Dusty winds were also seen in some areas. It has rained in many areas of Uttar Pradesh. Heavy rain occurred at many places in Rajasthan, both in western and eastern parts. On Friday, strong winds, thunderstorms and light rain were recorded in Noida, Ghaziabad and Saharanpur in western Uttar Pradesh, causing a drop of 3 to 4 degrees Celsius in the maximum temperature.

Meteorological Department issued alert

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a major alert for tomorrow i.e. Saturday, 4 April 2026. According to the Meteorological Department, there is going to be heavy rain, snowfall and hailstorm from the mountains to the plains. Due to this, many states may see a huge drop in temperature by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius. However, its effect has started happening from today itself.

Why did the weather change?

According to meteorologists, due to two consecutive western disturbances originating from the Mediterranean Sea, there is huge turmoil in the atmosphere of North India. This system will be at its peak in the next 24 hours, whose effect will be visible from the mountains to the plains. The main center of this seasonal disturbance is forming near the borders of Gujarat and Rajasthan.

Dust storm in Delhi-NCR

The Meteorological Department has warned of a strong storm with a speed of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour in Delhi-NCR and Chandigarh. Along with this, there are full chances of heavy rain and lightning in the sky. There is also a danger of tree branches or hoardings falling on the roads due to strong winds, so be extremely careful while leaving the house.

Hail will rain in these states

There is every possibility of snowfall and rain in the mountains as well as hail in the plains. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be heavy snowfall on the high peaks of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. At the same time, rain and hail will fall in the low-lying areas of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. There are chances of heavy rain in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Apart from this, the weather pattern will also remain disturbed in some parts of Central India like Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. At the same time, warning of heavy rain has been given in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam of North-East India.

Special advice from weather department for farmers

In view of this changing weather, agricultural scientists and meteorological department have issued a special advisory for farmers.

Stop Cutting: Farmers whose wheat and mustard crops are ripe should harvest them immediately or keep the harvested crops covered in safe places.

Stop spraying and irrigation: In view of the possibility of strong wind and hailstorm, stop any kind of chemical spraying or irrigation in the fields for now.

Fruit Protection: Horticulturists can use haul-nets to protect small fruit trees.

There is also good news amid this stormy weather. Those who had started increasing the speed of fans and ACs in the last week of March, are now going to get relief for a few days. Due to rain and cold winds, the maximum temperature has dropped by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius in North-West India. Talking about Delhi, the temperature here is expected to be between 29 to 31 degrees Celsius tomorrow. The Meteorological Department says that this feeling of coolness will continue till the first week of April, because another western disturbance is going to hit on April 7.
