Jammu Kashmir News: Major police reshuffle in Jammu and Kashmir, transfer of 82 IPS and JKPS officers

With the aim of making law and order in Jammu and Kashmir more efficient, transparent and accountable, the state government led by Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha has made the biggest and most important administrative reshuffle in the police department. Under the order issued by the Home Department, 82 Indian Police Service (IPS) and Jammu and Kashmir Police Service (JKPS) officers have been transferred with immediate effect. In this detailed order issued by Principal Secretary (Home) Chandrakar Bharti, Captains (SSP) of many districts and DIGs of many ranges have been changed.

Major changes at DIG and IGP level

In this much-awaited transfer list, many senior officers have been assigned important and new responsibilities. Senior IPS officer Tejendra Singh, who was DIG of Rajouri-Poonch range, has been transferred and appointed IGP CID. At the same time, Udhampur-Reasi Range DIG Sara Rizvi has now been given the important command of IGP Crime.

Apart from this, Shridhar Patil Daulu has been removed from Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range and made DIG of Jammu-Samba-Kathua range. Armed Kashmir DIG Shahid Maharaj Rather will now be the Director of Police Telecommunications. PHQ DIG Nisha Nathyal has been appointed as DIG of IR Jammu and Vinod Kumar, working on the same post, has been appointed as DIG of North Kashmir Range.

Important reshuffle in district captains (SSP)

To strengthen policing at the grassroots level, Superintendents of Police (SSP) of many districts have also been changed. Amod Nagpure Ashok has been transferred from Udhampur to Anantnag, while Anantnag SSP Amritpal Singh will now take charge of Udhampur.

Apart from these, Anuj Kumar got Samba, Sudhanshu Dhama got Ganderbal, Kartik Shrotriya got Doda, Mukund Tibrewal got Reasi and Hariprasad K.K. Has been appointed as the new SSP of Budgam district. The government has also expressed confidence in the young IPS officers of 2022 batch. Vaibhav Meena has been posted as SP South Jammu, Anna Sinha as SP Headquarters Jammu and Neha Jain as SP East Srinagar.

JKPS officers got new responsibility

Along with IPS officers, many senior officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police Service (JKPS) have also been transferred. Shamsher Hussain has been posted as SSP PCR Jammu, Amit Gupta as SSP CID SB Jammu, Dawood Ayub as SSP CID CI Kashmir and Tahir Ashraf Bhatti as SSP SIA Kashmir.

This comprehensive administrative reshuffle is being considered as a big and strict step of the Lieutenant Governor’s administration towards dealing with the upcoming challenges and strengthening the security grid of the state.
