2023 batch IAS officer Rinku Singh Rahi, resident of Dori Nagar, Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, is in the news these days regarding his resignation. In his resignation letter sent to the President, he has raised serious questions on the administrative system. He says that despite being an officer, he was not being given any concrete responsibility, due to which he was in mental and professional confusion for a long time.
In his detailed resignation letter, Rinku Singh Rahi mentioned that he had several times requested higher officials to give him charge, but he was continuously ignored. Staying affiliated for a long period of time without any clear responsibilities is not only unusual, but it can also have a negative impact on their career. He claims that such a situation has rarely been seen with any other officer.
survived a deadly attack
Rinku Singh Rahi’s administrative journey has also been full of struggles. Before becoming IAS, he was working in the Social Welfare Department. In 2009, during his posting in Muzaffarnagar, he was fatally attacked for raising his voice against corruption. He was seriously injured in this attack and became permanently disabled. Despite this, he did not give up and became an IAS by passing the civil services examination from the disabled quota.
He has also written in his resignation that in comparison to the salary and facilities he was getting, he was not able to make the expected contribution to the society, which had created a moral conflict within him. He says that wherever there is an opportunity to work, already entrenched systems become a hindrance in working honestly. He also alleged that if an officer tries to work as per the rules and the Constitution, he is put on posts without responsibility instead of being removed directly.
Rinku Singh Rahi’s family also supported him
Rinku Singh’s father Saudan Singh says that his son always gave priority to honesty and never made any kind of compromise. He told that there were many attempts to give bribe, people even reached her house with money, but Rinku rejected them every time. The family believes that it was because of this honesty that he was targeted and kept away from responsible positions.
Other family members also say that Rinku Singh Rahi was not given responsibility as per his capacity. According to his uncle Raghuveer Singh, if he had been posted on important posts like other officers, perhaps he would not have had to resign. The family also indicated that they faced discrimination, although there is no official confirmation on this.
Rinku Singh grew up in struggles
Rinku Singh Rahi’s family background has also been full of struggles. His father ran a flour mill and educated his children and provided them higher education. Today many members of the family are in government services. His brother Mool Kumar Rahi is working as Deputy Jailer. Despite this, the family still lives a simple life, which further strengthens the honest image of Rinku Singh.
