Indian citizen dies in Kuwait, government preparing to bring him back to India

An Indian citizen was killed in an attack on a desalination (water purification) plant in Kuwait on Sunday night. The attack is believed to be Iran-backed and caused extensive damage to a service building at the plant. On Monday, India’s Ambassador to Kuwait Parmita Tripathi visited the Central Mortuary, where the body of the deceased Indian national was kept. He also met Brigadier Abdulrahim Al-Awadhi, General Manager of Kuwait’s Criminal Evidence Department. The Ambassador thanked the Kuwait Administration for its cooperation and sensitive help.

The Indian Embassy has maintained constant contact with the family of the deceased and is working with the Government of Kuwait to make arrangements to send the body to India at the earliest. Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said the attack resulted in the death of an Indian employee and serious damage to the plant’s service building.
