Mathura: Outrage Over Vandalism At Ancient Temple Drunken Youth Caught Carrying Away Relics Police Take Him Into Custo

The incident of vandalism in an ancient Shiva temple located near Govardhan Drain in Mathura spread anger in the area. Shivalinga and other idols of Lord Shankar installed in the temple were damaged by a youth. As soon as the information was received, local people, workers of Hindu organization and police reached the spot. The police immediately took the accused youth into custody and brought the situation under control.

On Monday night at around 9:30 pm, Satveer Singh, resident of Jatav Mohalla, reached Shiv temple located at Vinod Baba Marg in an intoxicated state. There he broke the Shivalinga and the idol of Lord Kartikeya installed in the temple and tried to take some remains with him. As soon as information about the incident was received, nearby people gathered at the spot and started protesting.

Police station in-charge Ashwani Kumar, who reached the spot, pacified the people and took immediate action and took the accused youth into custody. Due to the activeness of the police, the possible tense situation in the area was controlled in time. At the same time, officials of Hindu organizations have filed a complaint in the police station demanding strict action against the accused. The police is investigating the matter and taking necessary legal action.
