They are back together after 14 years, but the trust is the same
On working with Akshay Kumar again, Priyadarshan said, ‘We are working together after 14 years. Till now we have done 8 films together. But the trust that exists between us is the same. We have done many films together before also. When things started working between us, we worked very fast.
We did many films together and during that time an understanding was formed. Now the situation is such that I do not have to convince Akshay for any subject. If I like a film, I just tell him I’m excited about this film, we want to do this. If they are also excited, then the matter is resolved there. This is the trust that has been built over so many years.

It would be wrong to consider ‘Bhoot Bungalow’ as ‘Bhool Bhulaiya’.
Regarding the film, the director said that people might think that ‘Bhoot Bangla’ will also be a similar film, but it is not so. This is not at all like ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’. It was a psychological mystery-thriller film. This is a fantasy.
But despite being fantasy, there are many things in it that people in India believe in. Like black magic, ghosts, sacrifices and many such things, which are part of folklore and mythological beliefs. We have included all these things in the film.
He further said that but the most important thing was that all this should not happen just like that. We added humor, logic, scary scenes and prepared it by combining all this. It was important for me that the film should not just be limited to scaring or shocking, but also have a structure within it.

There should be logic even in a film based on folklore
On the treatment of the film, Priyadarshan said, ‘Many times things happen without any reason in folklore films. But it was important for me that if something is happening within the film, there should be a reason behind it. The audience should feel that it has happened like this, that is why it is happening. Even if you are creating a fantasy or supernatural world, it should have its own rules. That’s what makes the film more believable.

Nowadays there are more people on the set than necessary
Active as a director and screenwriter in Indian cinema since 1984, Priyadarshan has come a long way in Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi and Telugu cinema. In such a situation, when he was asked about the changes in film production, the director said that I think there are more people than necessary on today’s sets.
I see a lot of people standing on the set with no work. Sometimes there are so many people that people are visible even outside the frame. I don’t understand who is doing what. This is a big problem in today’s filmmaking.
That’s why I like shooting ad films, because there’s a very small crew. I like working with small crews. It remains clear who is doing what? Nowadays there are so many people on the set, there are managers, there are assistants, 15-20 people just stand there. I don’t understand what they are doing there.
