Nearly a month after the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, leaders of various Shia and Sunni religious organizations from the Kashmir Valley visited the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi. Paying their heartfelt tributes to the departed leader, Kashmiri leaders recalled the age-old and deep cultural ties that existed between the people of Iran and Kashmir in these difficult times.
Important meeting of MMU under the leadership of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq
On Friday (March 27), a high-level delegation of Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulama (MMU) held a special meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to India Dr. Mohammad Fatahali and other senior officials of the embassy. This important delegation was led by MMU patron Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. He was accompanied by many other prominent religious scholars of the valley, including Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, Agha Syed Hassan al-Mosawi and Agha Syed Hadi al-Mosawi.
Kashmir’s solidarity and condolences with Iran
During the visit to the embassy, the Kashmiri delegation expressed deep sorrow and condolences over the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, his family members and other Iranian leaders. The leaders made it clear that this incident and Khamenei’s death have deeply shocked the people of Kashmir. Speaking on behalf of the people of Kashmir, the delegation expressed its deep solidarity and support to the people and government of Iran in this extremely difficult period of current crisis, difficulties and aggression.
Condemnation of Israel-US war and appeal for peace
Apart from paying tribute to the late leader, the MMU delegation also expressed its grave concern over the ongoing violent conflict in the Middle East. Kashmiri leaders strongly condemned the current war and aggression imposed on Iran by Israel and the United States. Seeking intervention from international forums, he expressed hope that all diplomatic efforts being made to restore peace, security and stability in the region will soon be successful, so that this destructive war can be brought to an end as soon as possible.
