How did the accident happen?
The incident occurred near Jupiter Island, Florida on Friday afternoon. According to police, Woods was trying to overtake a truck at high speed on a two-lane road in his Land Rover. Meanwhile, his car collided with the trailer of the truck and overturned and fell on its side. It is a matter of relief that Woods did not suffer any serious injuries and he himself was able to get out of the car.
Breathalyzer clean, but doubts remain
The officers who reached the spot conducted a breathalyzer test on Woods, in which the amount of alcohol was found to be zero. Despite this, police officials said that he showed signs of intoxication. Investigators suspect that he may have consumed some medicine or drugs. However, Woods flatly refused to submit to a urine test for further investigation, due to which he was arrested.
What action under law?
According to Florida law, it is a crime in itself for any suspected driver to refuse a test. Woods has been charged with three counts. These include driving under the influence (DUI), property damage and refusal to take a legal test. Under the rules, he will have to stay in jail for at least eight hours, only after which he can get bail.
This has happened before too
This is not the first time that Woods has been involved in such a case. Also in 2017, he was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. At that time he admitted that he had taken the wrong combination of painkillers. Apart from this, in 2021 also he had a serious car accident, in which he suffered serious injuries in his legs.
