Pakistan Qasim Khan, son of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has appealed to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to meet his father. His recommendation has exposed Pakistan. The rulers are furious and are calling it an insult to their country, while Qasim Khan’s comment is being termed as ‘a child’s plea’.
On Thursday (March 26, 2026), Information Minister Ataullah Tarar accused Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf of flouting the honor of the country under the guise of political disagreement. He said that these efforts of the party are unacceptable. Qasim Khan said on Wednesday that imran khan The treatment meted out to them violates international human rights conventions as well as commitments made under the GSP+ framework (Generalized Scheme of Preferences).
The GSP+ framework is a special European Union (EU) trade policy that provides vulnerable developing countries with zero duty access on approximately 66 percent of tariff lines in the EU market in exchange for commitments to sustainable development, human rights and good governance. Qasim Khan mentioned this and there is visible irritation over this.
PakistanIn a press conference on Thursday, Ataullah Tarar said that although every political party has the right to criticize, the country’s honor should not be put at stake, Dawn newspaper reported. He said, ‘No political leader is bigger than Pakistan.’ He accused PTI of not putting the country’s interest first. He said, ‘It is not acceptable for opponents to make fun of the country.’
Ataullah Tarar said, ‘The world is giving importance to Pakistan while a political party of the country is engaged in propaganda.’ He also reminded that PTI has been doing such things in the past also. He claimed that PTI had written a letter to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) appealing that Pakistan should not be given a bailout package in 2022.
Referring to Qasim Khan’s speech, Ataullah Tarar said that this was not a one-time incident – I wish he had done it without paper in his hand, but never mind, he is a child. Someone must have written this for him.
