Amidst the ongoing tension in West Asia, a report has claimed that America is planning to send 10,000 additional ground troops to West Asia. The report says that despite ongoing talks with Iran, America can take this big step. Jerusalem Post has given this information quoting a report by Wall Street Journal.

What’s in the report?

The new deployment could include infantry and armored vehicles, the report said, citing War Department officials. America’s 82nd Airborne Division is already present in the area. Experts say that the direct objective of the deployment of this division is to target Iran’s strategic interests, such as Kharg Island. However, the report said it was unclear where additional troops would be sent or deployed.

What did the White House Press Secretary say?

White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly said on this matter that any official announcement related to the deployment of troops will be made by the War Department only. He made it clear that all military options are available to President Trump. On the other hand, the American Central Command (CENTCOM) has refused to comment on this report.

These developments have come to light at a time when the ongoing conflict between America, Israel and Iran has now entered its fourth week. President Trump had recently indicated some relief in military operations against Iran. He said that Iran had demanded a halt to American attacks on its energy targets for seven days. Trump has extended this deadline to 10 days, which will last till April 6. Despite this, the attacks by the joint forces of America and Israel continue.

83rd wave of Operation True Promise 4 begins

Meanwhile, in response, Iran’s ‘Islamic Revolution Guards Corps’ (IRGC) announced the launch of the 83rd wave of ‘Operation True Promise 4’ early on Friday. Iran has targeted American and Israeli military bases in the area with the help of modern missiles and drones.

Amidst the deteriorating security situation in the region, Iran has informed the United Nations about media reports which mention a conspiracy to assassinate Iranian leaders. According to these reports, the US and Israel are planning to assassinate Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi. Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, has expressed deep concern over this. On Thursday, he wrote a letter to the United Nations Secretary General and the President of the Security Council, informing them about this threat.
