White House Press Secretary Carolyn Levitt said on Wednesday that the much-awaited meeting between the two leaders will take place in Beijing. A mutual visit to Washington is planned later this year. Levitt said that I am pleased to announce that the meeting between President Trump and President Xi in China will now take place in Beijing on May 14 and 15. First Lady Melania Trump and President Donald Trump will also host President Xi and Peng Liyuan during their return visit to Washington later.

This announcement comes after the postponement of the visit due to the ongoing US military operations in Iran. According to the White House, the visit was rescheduled after discussions between the two leaders, in which Beijing acknowledged the need for the US President to remain in Washington during the conflict.

He further said that there was a discussion between President Trump and President Xi regarding rescheduling of the meeting. President Xi understands that it is very important for the President to be present here during these combat operations. He clarified that the timing of the meeting was not linked to any specific outcome of the Iran conflict.
