
On the occasion of Chaitra Shukla Tritiya, the royal procession of Gangaur was taken out with traditional pomp in the historic walls of Jaipur. Apart from being a symbol of the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan, this event also seemed to give a message of social harmony.

Royal procession started from City Palace
The royal procession started from the ancestral courtyard of the City Palace, where Mata Gangaur was duly worshiped on behalf of the former royal family. As soon as the decorated statue came out of Tripolia Gate, the atmosphere echoed with the cheers of ‘Gangaur Mata Ki Jai’.

Folk art and royal style become attractions
Decorated elephants, royal horses and camels were the center of attraction in this grand procession. Artists in traditional costumes presented Kutchi Ghodi, Kalbelia and Chari dances. About 200 folk artists enlivened the event through their art.

Presence of crowds and tourists
There was a huge crowd on the roads and rooftops till Chhoti Chowpar on the ride route. Along with the local people, a large number of foreign tourists also came to see this event and were seen capturing this cultural heritage in their cameras. Married women and girls got blessings after seeing Mata Gangaur.

Traditional immersion in Talkatora
The royal procession proceeded further and reached Talkatora, where as per tradition the idol of the Mother Goddess was immersed. This scene became a confluence of reverence and enthusiasm.
