Appeal to celebrate Eid with simplicity in protest against attack on Iran, Maulana Farangi Mahali expressed disagreement

In protest against the attack on Iran, an appeal is being made in some places in India to celebrate Eid with simplicity and offer namaz by tying a black band on the arm. Meanwhile, Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahali, senior executive member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, has expressed disagreement with this. He said on Tuesday (March 17) that Eid is Allah’s reward to the fasting people and it is not related to any single human incident.

Maulana Khalid Rashid, in an important meeting held at Idgah Lucknow regarding the preparations for Eid-ul-Fitr, while referring to the appeals of not celebrating Eid in protest against the attack on Iran and offering Eid prayers by tying a black band on the arm, said that Eid is not related to any single human event.

What argument did Maulana Khalid Rashid give in favor of the statement?

Arguing in favor of his statement, he said that Ghazwa-e-Badr (battle in the plains of Badr) took place on 17 Ramzan in the second Hijri (Islamic calendar), even after that Eid was celebrated. He said, “Apart from this, Hazrat Ali was martyred on 21 Ramzan, 40 Hijri and Prophet Mohammad Sahib died on 12 Rabiul Awal in 11 Hijri, but despite that, Muslims celebrated Eid that year too.”

Do not associate Eid with any human incident – Khalid Rashid

Maulana further said that Eid-ul-Fitr is a worship among Muslims, hence it should not be linked to any human incident. It is known that in some areas of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, people of Shia community have appealed not to celebrate Eid and not to wear new clothes. At the same time, Maulana Saif Abbas Naqvi, President of Shia Chand Committee in Lucknow, has called upon Muslims to offer Eid prayers by tying a black band on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Apart from this, in Bhopal too, an appeal has been made to the people of Muslim community to offer Eid prayers by tying a black band on their arms. Maulana Khalid Rashid said that the Eid moon will be seen on March 19 and if the moon is seen on that day then it will be celebrated on March 20, otherwise Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on March 21. He said that it will be announced at 7.30 pm.
