Ayush Mhatre on MSD: Under-19 World Cup winning captain Ayush Mhatre attributed his victory in the BCCI Naman Awards to the guidance of MS Dhoni. Mhatre said that Mahi taught him to take decisions calmly in adverse situations, due to which India could win the sixth Under-19 title. Now this ‘Dhoni’s disciple’ has his eyes set on IPL, where he is ready to make his mark by opening with Sanju Samson for CSK.

New Delhi. Ayush Mhatre won everyone’s heart by giving credit for his success to ‘Captain Cool’ MS Dhoni. The evening of ‘BCCI Naman Awards’ held in New Delhi witnessed the golden history of Indian cricket. On this special occasion, Under-19 World Cup winning captain Ayush praised Dhoni profusely. Saturday evening was historic for the capital Delhi. The occasion was ‘Naman Awards’, where the incredible achievements of Indian cricket in the last one year were celebrated. On one hand, the Indian women’s team hoisted the tricolor by winning the ODI World Cup for the first time in history, while on the other hand, the senior men’s team created history by successfully defending the title on their own soil. Amidst all this, the Under-19 team captained by the future star i.e. Ayush Mhatre was also honoured, who won the sixth Under-19 World Cup for India.
Ayush Mhatre, part of Chennai Super Kings and captain of the Under-19 team, has revealed the biggest secret of his captaincy success. Ayush told that the captaincy skills taught to him by his mentor MS Dhoni were very useful during the World Cup. Ayush said, ‘Dhoni sir has always advised me to remain calm and take decisions with a cool mind. He said something very profound that will stay with me forever. ‘Most decisions can fail, and that is something we have to face.’ This learning helped me a lot in handling the pressure on the field.

That ‘winning catch’ of the World Cup and the support of senior veterans
18 year old Mhatre looked very excited during the award ceremony. He told that sharing the stage with senior players is like a dream for him. When he was asked about the most memorable moment of the entire year, he without any delay mentioned the last catch of the World Cup final which made India champion for the sixth time. He said, ‘There were many great moments throughout the year, but that winning catch to end the World Cup was the most special.’
Eager to open with Sanju Samson
After the success of Under-19 World Cup, now Ayush’s next stop is the upcoming IPL. The last season may not have been as per expectations for CSK, but this time Ayush is very excited. The biggest discussion of this season is the entry of Sanju Samson in CSK. On the possibility of opening the innings with Sanju, Ayush said, ‘I am very excited to bat with Sanju bhai. Have not met him yet, but I am eagerly waiting to bat with him during the training session.
