
The weather has taken a turn in North India amid the scorching heat. While the temperature remained at record levels in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh including the capital Delhi, now the possibility of rain and strong winds has been predicted. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rain and strong winds in the national capital on March 15, due to which a ‘yellow alert’ was issued in Delhi.
Rain was seen in some areas of Delhi on the morning of 15 March. The temperature has been recorded at 18 to 19 degrees. It is hoped that this will provide some relief to the people suffering from heat.
Fall in temperature and weather conditions
The minimum temperature at Safdarjung Observatory, the main meteorological center of the national capital, was recorded at 18.1 degrees Celsius, which was three degrees above normal. The minimum temperature at the weather monitoring stations of Palam and Lodhi Road was 16.6 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding strong winds in the capital. According to the department, there is a possibility of winds blowing at a speed of about 45 to 50 km per hour on March 15 and 16.
Weather activities due to western disturbance
Mahesh Palawat, Vice President of Meteorology and Climate Change Department of ‘Skymet Weather’, said that due to the Western Disturbance moving towards the Western Himalayas, cyclonic activity has developed in Central Pakistan and adjacent Punjab and Haryana. Due to its effect, there is a possibility of rain in some parts of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi in the next two days. This is considered to be the first pre-monsoon rain of this season, which is coming about ten days earlier than normal.

The maximum temperature in Delhi on Saturday was 33.2 degrees Celsius, which was 4.3 degrees above normal. Season According to the forecast of the department, till Monday the minimum temperature is expected to be around 14-16 degrees Celsius and the maximum is expected to be around 31-33 degrees Celsius. According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) on March 14 morning was 145, which falls in the ‘moderate’ category. The 24-hour average AQI was recorded at 153 at 4 pm, while it was 189 on Friday.
