jay shah suryakumar yadav gautam gambhir honored at cnbc tv18 ibla 2026: International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Jay Shah, Indian T20 cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav and head coach Gautam Gambhir were honored by CNBC-TV18 with a special award. In fact, in the ‘India Business Leader Awards 2026’, Jay Shah was honored with the award for ‘Outstanding Contribution in Sports’, Surya for ‘Sports Leader of the Year’ and Gambhir for ‘Excellence in Sports’.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal gave this honor to Jai Shah. In his address, Jai Shah dedicated this award to all the players of the country, especially the women players. He said, ‘I want to dedicate this award to all the players, especially those women players who are working hard on the field.’
Shah also congratulated India’s T20 World Cup winning team, which was captained by Suryakumar Yadav and coached by Gautam Gambhir. He also praised the other teams playing in the tournament. Praised South Africa and England, who were successful in reaching the knockout without losing any match. He also congratulated the New Zealand team which reached the final for its excellent performance. Shah also praised the associate teams and said that teams like Zimbabwe, Nepal and USA gave tough competition to the big teams in the tournament.
Recalling his time in cricket administration, Shah said that since joining BCCI in 2019, Team India has achieved many big successes. He said, ‘In the seven years between 2019 and 2026, Team India won two Under-19 Men’s World Cups and two Under-19 Women’s World Cups. Apart from this, he was runner-up twice in the final of the World Test Championship and once runner-up in the ODI World Cup. After this, the team also won two consecutive T20 World Cups and ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This is a huge achievement and I congratulate everyone for this.

Shah said that he has been watching cricket since 1998 and has been associated with cricket administration since 2009. Comparing it with the old era, he said, ‘Earlier there was a time when the name of Australia cricket team was associated with victory. Today the same thing is with Team India. He said, ‘Today Team India means victory.’
Jay Shah also talked about the importance of the recently held World Cup. He told that before the tournament there were discussions regarding the participation and schedule of some teams. Let us tell you that later Scotland was included in place of Bangladesh and for some time there was talk of Pakistan’s withdrawal also. Jay Shah said, ‘As ICC President, I want to say that no team is bigger than the organization. An organization is not formed by any one team, but by all the teams together.
