
Delhi High Court strongly reprimanded Delhi Police for delay in investigation of MCOCA case related to former Aam Aadmi Party MLA Naresh Balyan. The court said that the police should have completed the investigation of this case quickly, because the accused has been in jail since the year 2024.
HC expressed displeasure on Delhi Police
During the hearing of the case in the Delhi High Court, the bench of Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma asked the police as to how long the investigation will continue. The court said that if the investigation continues like this then when will the process of framing charges start? The court also commented that till the charges are not framed, the court will also say regarding bail that let the charges be framed first.

During the hearing, information also came before the court that two witnesses in this case have retracted from their earlier statements. On this, the court said that in such cases, there is a need to pursue the investigation more seriously, so that the truth can come out soon.
Delhi HC asks for status report from police
Advocate John, appearing for Naresh Balyan, told the court that his arguments were made as per the instructions of his client. The court gave a brief response to this and said that it understands this. At the end of the hearing, the High Court fixed the next hearing of the case on March 30 and directed the Delhi Government and the Police to file a detailed status report on the latest status of the investigation before the next date. The court clearly indicated that it will closely monitor the progress of the investigation in this case.
