An Army soldier posted on the Line of Control in Khaud area of Jammu drowned while practicing swimming in Manawar Tawi river. This incident happened around 12 noon on Monday. The missing soldier is posted in 9 Punjab Regiment.
According to the police, the army personnel were practicing swimming at Manawar Tawi near Batal village of Khaud. During this time the soldier drowned in the Akshay river. First the army made efforts at its level to find the soldier. When initial efforts were not successful, local youth were called for help. On receiving information, police also reached the spot.
The police team also started searching for the soldier. After this, the National Disaster Response Force team also reached the spot. The National Disaster Response Force team remained busy searching for the soldier till late evening. However, no trace of the jawan could be found till late evening.
