A major accident took place in Pink City Jaipur in Rajasthan today (Friday) during Friday prayers on the third Friday of the month of Ramadan. Here, during the namaz in the Firdaus Masjid located in Bhatta Basti area of Shastri Nagar, the wall of the building above the ablution area collapsed. 21 people have been injured in this accident. The condition of 6 of these is said to be serious. The seriously injured Namazis have been referred to SMS Medical College hospital for treatment. However, it is a matter of relief that the condition of all the injured is said to be out of danger at present.
This accident happened around 2:30 pm when Friday prayers were ending at Firdaus Masjid. All the children started leaving the mosque before the prayers when suddenly the outer wall of the building above the ablutions room collapsed. The Namazis present behind were buried under the debris after the wall collapsed. Some people even fell down from above. The wall was about three feet high and a hundred feet long.
Five to six thousand Namazis were present
At the time of the accident, five to six thousand worshipers were present in the mosque. There was panic as soon as the accident happened. Local police station in-charge Deepak Tyagi and his team were present outside the mosque in view of the prayers. The injured were immediately sent to different hospitals in ambulances and private vehicles. The seriously injured have been referred to SMS Hospital. Police also believe that due to the huge crowd, there was pressure on the building above and the wall fell down.
The accident happened after the main namaz
The good thing was that this accident happened at a time when many people were trying to get out of the mosque after offering namaz before the prayers were done. If this accident had happened during the main Namaz, the possibility of huge loss of life and property could not be ruled out. However, the police who reached the spot also admitted that the people of the mosque committee did not follow the security standards. At present no case has been registered in this matter. Now, concrete arrangements are being made to ensure that a major accident does not happen due to huge crowd in the mosque again.
