New Delhi. The 14th over of the semi-final between India and England at the Wankhede Stadium was no less than the climax of an exciting film. Left arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh came to bowl his third over and the aggressive batsmen Jacob Bethal and Will Jacques were on strike. The over started with drama. Bethal hit a lucky four on the very first ball of Arshdeep. After this Arshdeep made a comeback and gave only 5 runs in the next four balls. But the real drama started on the last ball of the 14th over. Arshdeep bowled three consecutive wide balls in the form of wide yorker, which increased the uneasiness in the Indian camp.
After consecutive wide throws, Arshdeep Singh changed his plan. On the next ball, Will Jacks tried to play a big shot, but the ball rose high in the air. Akshar Patel, standing at the boundary, took an excellent catch while running, but seeing him losing his balance, he showed amazing agility. While falling, he tossed the ball towards Shivam Dubey who was nearby. Dubey ended the innings of Jacques (35 runs) by holding this ‘relay catch’ in safe hands. This success after three wides by Arshdeep forced the Indian fans to dance. Captain Surya embraced Akshar for this brilliant fielding. Arshdeep took an important wicket in this expensive but successful over.
