
Principal Secretary Dr. R. Meenakshi Sundaram gave information regarding the economic survey of Uttarakhand. He held a press conference in the Secretariat Media Center auditorium. Principal Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram said to mark the completion of four years of the government, the Planning Department on Thursday released the Economic Survey for the financial year 2025-26. He also presented comparative figures of the last four years.
According to the Planning Department, an increase of one and a half times has been recorded in the state’s GSDP by 2022. The size of the state’s GSDP in 2022 was Rs 2.54 lakh crore, which has increased to more than Rs 3.81 lakh crore. The per capita income of the state has also increased.
In 2022, where the per capita income was one lakh 94 thousand. It has now increased to two lakh 73 thousand. There has also been a decline in the poverty index as compared to 2022. The poverty index has fallen from 9.7% to 6.92%. Told that there has been good growth in the MSME sector in the state. Under this, there were about 59 thousand industries in 2022. In the last four years their number has increased to more than 79 thousand. This is providing employment to about four and a half lakh people.

The Principal Secretary said that in 2022, the number of big industries in the state was 107, which has now increased to 128. The number of startups also increased in the last four years. There was not a single startup in 2017. In 2022, 702 startups were registered, whose number has now reached -1750.
In the last four years, 885 km long roads were constructed in the state. There has also been a record increase in electricity production from solar power plants. In 2022, 439 MW electricity was being generated from solar, which has now increased to 1027 MW. There has also been growth in rice, milk and fish production. The manufacturing sector has the highest contribution of 26.02% in the state’s GSDP.
