Kolkata: Former captain Sourav Ganguly said about Sanju Samson that he should get continuous opportunities in limited overs. Ganguly believes that the criticism of this aggressive wicketkeeper-batsman before the T20 World Cup was incomprehensible. Samson’s unbeaten inning of 97 runs in 50 balls helped India chase the target of 196 runs in the ‘virtual quarterfinal’ against West Indies here on Sunday. Describing it as a brilliant innings, Ganguly said, “He is a very good player.” He should play continuously for India in white ball cricket, 100 percent.
He said, “This match was almost like a quarter-final and remaining unbeaten on 97 runs shows his skill.” He is that kind of player. When he enters the field, he causes harm to the opposing team.” Samson played this innings on a day when India’s main batsmen Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, captain Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya were out cheaply. But Samson handled the pressure well and batted without any risk till the end.

Ganguly further said, “He played according to the situation and it was necessary.” This teaches all of us that this is the same boy who has not been able to make his place in the team in the last six months, whether Ishan Kishan is opening the innings or someone else is coming in. He said, “Just before the World Cup, I used to read in the newspaper that ‘Sanju has failed again’, ‘He does not deserve to be in the team’, ‘India has so much talent, why is Shubman Gill not in the team?’ And then this same boy remains unbeaten by scoring 97 runs in a quarterfinal match and takes you to the semi-finals. ”
India’s semi-final is with England
Ganguly also said that the England team will be more difficult than the West Indies and said that the home team will have to maintain its excellent form to overcome the difficulty of the semi-finals in Mumbai. Ganguly said during a meeting here, “The England team will be a stronger opponent than the West Indies. He will have to play the same way he did to win yesterday’s match. The best thing for India has been that Sanju Samson has returned to form at the top of the order after a disappointing series against New Zealand before the T20 World Cup.
