
Once again a shocking incident has come to light in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Two sweepers who had come to clean the sewer chamber in the city have died. Actually, the employees who went to clean the chamber died due to suffocation inside. There has been a stir after the death of the employees. After the death of the employees, CM Mohan Yadav has announced a compensation of Rs 30 lakh. This information has been given by the Municipal Corporation.
CM Mohan Yadav announced compensation
In a release issued by Indore Municipal Corporation, it was said that State Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has given instructions to provide assistance of Rs 30 lakh each to the families of both the sanitation workers. The release claimed that both the sanitation workers met with the accident while emptying a septic tank and emptying the water from the municipal vehicle into the chamber of the sewerage line.
Employees died during cleaning – Police
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Sumit Kerketta said that the incident took place when two corporation workers were cleaning a chamber of the sewerage line in front of the city’s Devi Ahilyabai Holkar fruit-vegetable market.
He said that during cleaning, a part of the pipe of the ‘sewer suction machine’ broke and fell into the chamber. A cleaning worker who entered the chamber to remove part of this pipe became unconscious due to the influence of poisonous gas. The other corporation employee who entered the chamber to save him also became unconscious.
Both died due to suffocation – Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police
Kerketta said that both the corporation employees died due to suffocation due to poisonous gas present in the sewerage chamber. He said that the bodies of both the cleaning workers were taken out of the chamber with the help of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and sent to a hospital for postmortem.
What did the Deputy Commissioner of Police say on the matter?
Deputy Commissioner of Police Shri Krishna Lalchandani said that the deceased have been identified as Karan Yadav and Ajay Dodi. Eyewitness Amit Rajak present at the spot said that both the corporation workers had entered the sewerage chamber without safety equipment.
Rajak alleged that even after two hours of the incident, the police, municipal employees and ambulance had not reached the spot and the common people tried to save the two cleaning workers by taking them out of the chamber.
