T20 World Cup Pakistan: Poor performance in the T20 World Cup has cost Pakistan cricketers dearly, as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a fine of Pakistani rupees 50 lakh on each of its players. In the World Cup, Pakistan won four matches, lost two and one match remained inconclusive. The team could not qualify for the semi-finals due to losing the match against England in the Super-8 and the match against New Zealand being washed out due to rain.

Lahore: PCB has imposed a huge fine of 50 lakh Pakistani rupees on the Pakistani cricket team, which was eliminated after poor performance in the T-20 World Cup. This price in Indian currency is around Rs 12 lakh. You must have heard many times the news of a team getting a reward if it wins, but after losing, this is a unique and strange case of fine being imposed on the players of each team. Actually, this decision was taken immediately after the defeat against India. According to sources, the officials have clearly told the players that enough pampering is enough. From now on, financial benefits will be available only on the basis of performance.

Pakistan out of Super-8
Pakistan narrowly escaped defeat against Netherlands in its first match of the T20 World Cup and then managed to win over America. Given the familiarity with Sri Lankan conditions and the presence of good spin bowlers, better performance was expected against India, but like the three matches of the Asia Cup, this time too the team failed. After defeating Namibia, Pakistan somehow reached the Super 8. The first match against New Zealand was canceled due to rain and then they had to face defeat against England, which weakened their hopes of reaching the semi-finals. England’s win over New Zealand rekindled Pakistan’s hopes, but even the minor win against Sri Lanka did not improve their run rate significantly. As a result, New Zealand also reached the semi-finals and Pakistan’s journey ended here.

PCB came into action as soon as India lost
Like the fans, the board officials are also extremely unhappy with the team’s performance. According to sources, a fine of Rs 50 lakh each has been imposed on each player. Officials have made it clear that if players get awards for good performance, they will also have to pay a fine for poor performance. The team was informed about this decision immediately after losing to India. PCB gets its A category players a monthly salary of Rs 45 lakh along with a share of Rs 27 lakh from ICC revenue. B category players get a monthly salary of Rs 30 lakh and Rs 15 lakh as ICC share. C category players get a monthly salary of Rs 10 lakh and Rs 10 lakh as ICC share. D category players get a monthly salary of Rs 7 lakh and Rs 57 lakh as ICC share. Match fee is separate. No players were included in Category A in the central contracts from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026.

Pakistani players proved to be the ones who fired the cartridges.
Sahibzada Farhan was the top scorer for Pakistan in the current World Cup with 383 runs. Surprisingly, the other top batsmen, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Aga, Babar Azam and Usman Khan could not even score 100 runs individually in the entire tournament. Among the bowlers, except spinner Usman Tariq who took 10 wickets, the performance of the rest of the bowlers was mediocre. Captain Salman Ali Aga, considered close to coach Mike Hesson, failed miserably in batting and questions were also raised on his decisions as captain. PCB may take even tougher decisions in the coming days.
