500 years old unique tradition
This special event is held every year in Gokul Chandram Temple located in Itwara of Nimar region. Aditya head of the temple committee says that this tradition has been going on for about 500 years. On this day, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law forget all their grudges and reach the temple and apply colors together. It is believed that by ending estrangement and playing Holi with love on this day, happiness and peace remains in the family.
Mother-in-law and daughter-in-law dance together
After having darshan of Thakur ji in the temple, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law apply gulal to each other. Then the sequence of folk songs and dance begins. Songs are sung in the local language and women dance to the beat of the drum. Crowds ranging from children to the elderly gather to see this spectacle. Thousands of people witness this event.
Love dissolves in relationships
