After the victory, captain Suryakumar Yadav described it as a ‘do or die’ match and said that the Indian players have shown tremendous spirit in this. Expressing happiness over reaching the semi-finals, the Indian captain said, ‘It is a great feeling. It was a ‘do or die’ match, in which the boys showed tremendous spirit. Suryakumar Yadav praised Sanju Samson a lot and said that good things happen to good people.
Samson played match winning inning of 97 runs
Sanju Samson could score only 22 runs against Namibia and 24 runs against Zimbabwe, but after this, in the decisive match against West Indies, he played an unbeaten inning of 97 runs with 4 sixes and 12 fours, playing 50 balls. What did Surya say after reaching the semi-finals?
On reaching the semi-finals, the Indian captain said, ‘I am very happy to reach there. The way we played the first match, we feel we deserve this place. The West Indies team, which came to bat first, scored 195 runs losing 4 wickets. In response, India registered victory despite losing 2 wickets till the score of 41.
Regarding the pressure, Suryakumar clearly said, ‘Expectations will always be there, but on the field you should know what you have to do. I told the boys that there will be pressure, people will have expectations, but it is important to show courage in such matches and take positive decisions even under pressure.
