Tension increased between the two countries
Pakistan said on Friday that it is in open war with Afghanistan. The statement came as Pakistani troops killed more than 270 Taliban fighters and injured more than 400 in air strikes in response to a cross-border attack by the Afghan Taliban, according to Islamabad.
On the other hand, Afghanistan’s Taliban government spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid claimed that Afghan forces killed 55 Pakistani soldiers and targeted important military targets inside Pakistan.
The Afghan Taliban attacked several posts near the border late on Thursday night, reportedly to avenge the air strikes carried out by Pakistan in the border areas of Afghanistan on Sunday. In response, Pakistan targeted targets in Kabul, Kandahar and Paktia under ‘Operation Ghazab Al Haq’ early Friday.
