Delhi News: Municipality-2026 conference in Bharat Mandapam, new initiative of MCD for cleanliness and waste management.

In the three-day international conference Municipality-2026 held in Delhi, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) showcased many of its important initiatives related to solid waste management and cleanliness. This conference is being organized in Bharat Mandapam, where experts and representatives related to city administration from India and abroad have participated.

The conference was inaugurated by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. After the inauguration, the Minister visited the MCD stall and appreciated the work being done towards making the capital clean, smart and sustainable. He said that in a big city like Delhi, scientific disposal of waste and reducing landfill is a big challenge, but MCD is doing solid work in this direction.

MCD told how waste management will be done

In the MCD pavilion, it was shown how the waste is being disposed of by dividing it into different categories. Separation of wet and dry waste, door-to-door collection of garbage, reducing mountains of garbage at old landfill sites and use of modern machines were all explained in detail.

Along with this, the corporation also displayed its digital services, so that people can avail the benefits of online services sitting at home.

Emphasis on Swachh Bharat Mission

The problem of garbage in Delhi has been a big challenge for a long time. Special drives have been running for the last few years to reduce the mountain of garbage at landfill sites like Ghazipur, Bhalswa and Okhla. Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, emphasis has also been laid on improving the cleanliness system in Delhi.

During the conference, MCD officials also presented a technical session on the topic ‘Urban Planning and Reforms’. In this, information was given about integrated urban planning, circular economy i.e. the idea of ​​creating resources from waste and reforms being done to make business easier.

MCD says that participation in such an international platform provides information about new technology and better methods. The corporation reiterated that it is committed to making Delhi a clean, healthy and modern city, so that the capital can become a model of sustainable development in the times to come.
