A shocking and disturbing picture has emerged from Handwara city of Kupwara district of North Kashmir regarding the health safety of people during the holy month of Ramzan. During a routine market checking by the Food and Safety Department, officials noticed that an outsider was openly kneading a large quantity of flour with his feet. Then other officers of the team stopped him and started interrogating him.
According to the information, food items like feni and samosas were being prepared from this flour. Which is in highest demand during Iftar during Ramadan. This incident has raised serious questions regarding cleanliness and food safety. The common people who depend on the markets to break Roza are shocked to see this careless scene and are demanding strict action from the administration.
The team started investigation by taking the youth into custody
According to Food and Safety Department officials, the team was checking in the market. Meanwhile, investigation was started in a warehouse. As soon as I entered the warehouse, I saw a man kneading dough with his feet. The concerned officials also made a video of that entire incident. The team talked to other warehouse employees. When the team did not find something right, they immediately stopped the production at that location and took the man into custody. Further legal action is underway to ensure that such ‘inhumane’ practices are eradicated from the food industry.

There has been a strong reaction to this incident after the action of the Food and Safety Department and the officials have advised the people there to be very careful about where to buy loose food items.
